Why Choose a GMC Yukon in Olympia

The Yukon earns its reputation through genuine capability paired with everyday comfort. Seating for up to eight and cargo space that stretches to 122.9 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded means it handles family duty and gear-hauling trips toward Chehalis without breaking a sweat.

Olympia's mix of city streets and rural highways calls for a vehicle that can do it all, and the Yukon's available 4WD, strong towing figures, and refined ride quality make it a natural fit. Drivers in Puyallup, Renton, and Tacoma have come to appreciate how the Yukon balances luxury touches with real off-road and towing chops.

GMC Yukon Model Year Highlights

GMC has kept the Yukon evolving year over year, and knowing what separates the 2025, 2026, and 2027 model years helps you decide which one fits your budget and priorities.

2025 GMC Yukon: Standout Features

The 2025 model year brought a mid-cycle refresh that runs deeper than a typical yearly update. GMC dropped the older SLE and SLT trims entirely, replacing them with the new Elevation trim at the entry point, alongside an all-new AT4 Ultimate trim for buyers who want serious off-road hardware without stepping all the way up to Denali.

Inside, the changes are just as significant. A column shifter replaced the previous push-button setup, freeing up center console space, and that console itself now slides back 10 inches thanks to the new Power-Sliding Center Console.

GMC also introduced 16-way massaging power front seats on the AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate trims, a 16.8-inch infotainment screen, and an available night vision feature for added confidence driving after dark. Super Cruise expanded across more of the lineup, and the independent rear suspension carried over from the current generation continues to smooth out the ride. On the diesel side, output climbed to 305 hp, up from 277 hp in the 2024 model.

2026 GMC Yukon: What's New

Rather than another overhaul, the 2026 Yukon focuses on refinement. The biggest practical addition is the new Key Card digital access system, which lets you tap a card to unlock and start the vehicle without fumbling for a key fob. It's a small convenience that makes a real difference during grocery runs or ski trips.

GMC also streamlined its option packages this year, removing some of the second-row power bucket seat dependencies that complicated ordering in years past. The Elevation trim gained a new Technology package that adds power lumbar support, a 15-inch head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, and a rear camera mirror, features previously reserved for higher trims.

New color choices arrived too, including Titanium Rush Metallic and Onyx Black, available across most trims, and Glacier White Tricoat, exclusive to Denali and Denali Ultimate. Midnight Pine carries over on AT4 and AT4 Ultimate, while Summit White and Volcanic Red Tintcoat continue as returning options.

The 2026 lineup includes five trims: Elevation, AT4, AT4 Ultimate, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. There's something here whether you're watching your budget or want every option box checked.

2027 GMC Yukon: Carryover Model Updates

The 2027 Yukon is confirmed as a carryover model, meaning GMC isn't changing the sheetmetal, interior, or powertrain lineup from 2026. That's good news if you liked what you saw in the 2026 model, since you're getting the same proven platform with a few worthwhile tweaks.

The most notable addition is Coastal Dune, a new color exclusive to the AT4 and AT4 Ultimate trims, available for an extra charge. Super Cruise now comes standard on the Denali trim rather than as an option, and GMC introduced a new Elevation Preferred Package as the only way to add Super Cruise to the base Elevation trim.

There are also various package reshuffles across trims, plus bright door sill plates now standard across the entire lineup. Buyers cross-shopping 2026 and 2027 models are mostly weighing these small feature differences rather than any major redesign.

Yukon Trim Levels and Capability

Each Yukon trim is built around a specific type of buyer. The Elevation trim opens the lineup, and it's far from basic: it comes standard with a 5.3L V8, HD Surround Vision, heated front seats and steering wheel, 20-inch wheels, a 16.8-inch touchscreen, and seating for up to eight.

Step up to AT4 and you get standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, Magnetic Ride Control, and a skid plate for genuine off-road capability. It's also the first trim tier to include heated and ventilated front seats as standard. The AT4 Ultimate builds on that same rugged hardware but adds the 6.2L V8, Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, 16-way massaging front seats, and standard Super Cruise, making it the only way to get hands-free highway driving without moving to the Denali side of the lineup.

On the luxury end, Denali brings a power-sliding center console, a 15-inch multicolor head-up display, Magnetic Ride Control, and available 22-inch or 24-inch wheels. The Denali Ultimate tops the lineup with standard 24-inch wheels, 16-way massaging front seats, and an 18-speaker Bose Performance Series system that grows to as many as 22 speakers with the available executive second-row seating.

Performance, Comfort, and Technology

Every Yukon pairs with a 10-speed automatic, but engine choice makes a real difference depending on how you plan to use the vehicle. The standard 5.3L V8 on Elevation and AT4 trims produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, plenty for daily driving and light towing. Buyers who want more muscle can step up to the 6.2L V8, standard on AT4 Ultimate, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. It puts out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

For those prioritizing efficiency and towing endurance, the Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel inline-six is available across all trims, with 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque on tap. Properly equipped Yukons with the 5.3L V8, 2WD, and the Max Trailering Package can tow up to 8,400 lbs, GMC's maximum rating for the Yukon, while models equipped with the 6.2L V8 or Duramax diesel top out around 8,200 lbs.

Dimensionally, the Yukon measures around 210.1 inches long, 81 inches wide without mirrors, and 76.5 inches tall, sizable enough to feel substantial without becoming a hassle to park on Olympia's streets. Inside, technology like Google built-in, Dynamic Fuel Management, and Bose audio (depending on trim) rounds out a cabin that feels as capable as the drivetrain underneath it.
